TempPack focuses on technical topics related to global temperature-controlled performance packaging. Premio Envases y Embalajes 2023

The Premio Envases y Embalajes 2023 is instituted as an incentive to all natural and legal persons, who are distinguished by presenting relevant and innovative results in the design of containers and packaging, in order to promote domestic trade and exports; also as a stimulus to the development of the talent of our students.

The National Center for Packaging (CNEE) together with the National Design Office (ONDi) will be in charge of the general organization of the activities necessary for the delivery of the Award, as well as proposing the possible winners of the same, together with the organizations and other institutions that correspond.

AIP Introduction to Packaging Specifications training course

The AIP will be running a virtual training course on the 24th of May that will be on the ‘Introduction to Packaging Specifications’.

The packaging specification defines all the necessary packing levels for a product or the transport of the product. For a product, a packaging specification focusses on the packed product and the packaging materials that are being used to ensure the safe travels in the rigours of the supply chain.

In the training course the AIP will cover aspects such as: Why have a specification, the management thereof, how to collect the data, and the fundamentals of drafting a specification.

The AIP will discuss material types in packaging, as well as sampling plans, testing of packaging, and how best to incorporate all the data into one document. The course will also address the importance of auditing suppliers of your packaging.

It will conclude with applications in the industry, discussing possible pitfalls and the issues that may occur over time when suitable specifications are not available and/or not up to date, and what to do about rectifying such situations.

Course objectives:
- After the course you will be able to know what is key to a packaging specification sheet.
- You will fully comprehend that the packaging specification is a technical document that contains a series of standard requirements for packaging a product. It includes size, dimensions, weight, materials, tolerances and load related information.

This course is intended for those that want to introduce your very own packaging component specifications into your company, as well as those of you who need to understand the relevance and how important specifications are in relation to legal aspects. It is of significant value to those who would like to know how best to maintain and ensure that all packaging specifications are always up to date.


The course will be presented by Prof Pierre Pienaar MSc, FAIP, CPP, Education Director, AIP and Guest Lecturer, Matthew Wright, Founder & CEO, Specright.

All AIP training courses are internationally recognised and approved to attain Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) points.
